YMCA (Young Men Christian Association) relief footage
In 2008 Robert Davidian released rare footage of the aftermath of the Smyrna Holocaust as filmed by his grandfather, George Magarian. The footage – stored on a 16mm nitrate reel – had been hidden in his grandmother's New York apartment for some sixty years.
George Magarian, born in 1895, had been educated at the American College at Konia, Turkey and later became motion picture director for the Army YMCA in Camp Hancock, Augusta, GA, USA.
