Armenia in the International Olympiad in Informatics

AZAD-HYE (20 September 2004): The website of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) , has announced the names of the winners of the 16th International Olympiad in Informatics, which took place 11-18 September 2004 in Athens, Greece.

 

Paul Jefferys from Great Britain occupied the first place with a score of 565, Hu Weidong from China took the second position with a score of 560 and Lou Tiancheng, from China, was third, scoring 530.

 

The IOI is the premier worldwide high school computer programming competition (first held in Bulgaria 1989). It was originally proposed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and is one of six academic Olympiads for high school students throughout the world (the other five being: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy).

 

Armenia this year participated with four contestants and two officials (Leader Armen Andreasyan and Deputy Leader Gevorg Aslamazyan). Contestant Vahe Musoyan occupied the 91st position with a score of 335 and a bronze medal (26 contestants won gold medals, 48 silver and 70 bronze)
