Ambassador Melikian visits the Emirate of Fujairah

Vahagn Melikian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in the United Arab Emirates met with His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Muhammad Al Sharqi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of the Emirate of Fujairah (one of the seven Emirates forming the federation of the United Arab Emirates since 1971).

Ambassador Melikian briefed the Ruler on the positive developments in the domain of Armenia-UAE relations and the need for further growth of the cooperation with Fujairah.

Referring to the necessity for involving the smaller Emirates (besides the main three Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah) in enhancing bilateral relations, the Ambassador highlighted the facts that scheduled flights to Armenia (by Armavia and the newly launched Sharjah based Air Arabia carrier) provide enormous opportunities for the development of tourism, agriculture and other activities in Armenia.

During the meeting the two sides discussed the prospects of establishing joint projects in several fields, including chemical production, jewelry, diamond production, information technologies and culture. Ambassador Melikian suggested recruiting high caliber Armenian experts, especially in engineering and medicine, in the local Fujairah market.

Following the request of Sheikh Hamad Al Sharqi, an accord of the recent developments related to the Nagorno Karabagh problem was presented, together with information about the process of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the present day situation of the Armenian ? Turkish relations.

At the end of the meeting Ambassador Melikian invited Sheikh Hamad Al Sharqi to visit Armenia.??
