It is unclear for me on what bases Minister of Culture Roland Sharoyan sacked our big maestro Ohan Durian in 2001 (I was planning to have a discussion with the minister when he was in Dubai, but I thought my action could have been interpreted wrongly).
I believe Durian had an internal conflict with art-director Gegham Grigorian who had better relation with the minister (MY PERSONAL OPINION).
Grigorian claimed that because of Ohan Dourian's age (around 80) he had weakness of memory, and he was very nervous.
At the meantime Durian left for Moscow and directed concerts there and even Michael Gorbachev himself congratulated him after a concert. Durian continues to conduct worldwide.
In the past Durian had made the following statement when he returned from Leipzig: “I came to my homeland to serve my nation and to die in my land.”
Today Durian has returned to Armenia in order to sell his house and belongings!
