Grish Davtian

Poet

 

Grish Davtian was born in Jolfa, Esfahan (Nor Jugha), in Iran.

 

He studied history of the Middle East at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and Commercial and Industrial Management at Tehran University, Iran. In 1964-65 Grish was editor of Aregak monthly journal in London, UK. During 1980-85 he edited the literary page of Alik Daily Newspaper in Tehran. From 1970-1985 he was a member of Armenian Writers Society of Iran, the last seven years as vice president, then president.

 

He has published two books of his poems in Armenian. Recently he has started writing in English; he writes poetry and literary criticism. One of his poems has been published in the “America at the Millennium” anthology in 2000, USA.

 

He's in charge of the Literary page of Asbarez Daily, in Glendale, and has organized the Literary Asbarez monthly meetings, cosponsored by Glendale Public Library, and Asbarez Daily since 1998.

 

Grish is also the moderator of the Literary Groong.
