Armenian Village Operation

Logo of the Armenian Village Operation

Armenia Village Operation was established in Yerevan in 2005 with a mission to “end extreme poverty in rural Armenia through community development“.

?

AVO in partnership with various private donors and organizations has successfully implemented 5 projects in 4 rural villages. Our projects helped hundreds of families with micro finance, running water, infrastructure and community development, with an end result of income generation for self sustainability.

?

Armenia villages are in the worst condition since the independence of 1991. It is estimated that out of 937 villages, only 12 percent are functional, with the balance to be in the verge of disappearing due to:

?

– High poverty rate (48.1 percent)

– High unemployment rate (50-80 percent)

– Lack of running water

-?Lack of Irrigation for agriculture

-?Poor road conditions

-?Lack of health facilities

-?High child mortality rate due to malnutrition

?

Our message is clear, villages are on the verge of destruction, high poverty and unemployment rate are the grass roots of youth migration. It's time to join forces to SAVE A VILLAGE, create employment and generate a sustainable income for our people.

?

Join our dynamic team to build a brighter Armenia and “PUT AN END TO EXTREME POVERTY IN RURAL ARMENIA“.

Providing water to Getap village

AVO and private donor provide water to 45 families?

AVO with generous contribution of Harout Bronozian, a Diaspora Armenian, replaced a rusted, non function water pump in Getap village of Aragatston region of Armenia.

?

Getap village is a small, rural village, located at the Turkish border, with population of 408, with 45 households, 15 percent of which live under extreme poverty. The village is located in a harsh area with limited resources for agriculture, due to lack of irrigation. Getap village has been experiencing water pump failure in particular during cold season, when the pump will rust and freeze, leaving the entire village with NO water for days.

?

The new pump was installed by the community and is fully functional, providing water to the entire community throughout the year.

?

In addition, AVO will provide further technical resources to build several fish ponds for income generation and self sustainability.

  1. I strongly suggest that our community “leaders” should seriously consider cooperating with the?Republic of?Armenia / Embassador?and organize campaigns locally (UAE and or GCC) to find ways to help our village people in Armenia.

It's not about Armenian duty anymore..we need purpose to give and a purpose to live.

    Ideas? plenty if asked…

Resources? God's sake we have pipe makers..steel makers..and bankers..

Time? Aren't you all tired of shopping centers and the Global Village??

    Inspiration? come on!!
