Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory's Folk Music Department?s first course student Hayk Hambardzumyan's first video clip has already appeared on the net.
The lyrics, music and arrangements belong to Arsen Grigoryan. The clip is directed by Khachik Eghoyan.
Azad-Hye met the singer and had a brief conversation:
Let us start by talking about the video clip itself?
I always liked Arsen Grigoryan's songs and wished to perform one written by him. Our cooperation started when I met him. This song is not purely a folk song, though it carries the elements of a folk song. I hope we have succeeded in this cooperation and I wish that the audience would like the outcome.
How would you define the art of singing?
The genre of the folk songs is very close to my heart. I am quite familiar in creating such songs. I believe the Armenian audience also likes this genre and supports it by repeatedly playing it. We, the performers, should work to develop this genre. Therefore I found it right to treat folk music as the core of my video clip, spiced with pop overtones.
In general, as far as I am concerned, a song represents an emotional condition. I cannot realize myself without songs. For me, pure Armenian song is the folk song, the one attributed to Komitas. I would like to mention here that I do not change the style of such songs, rather I try to express myself within their frame.
What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the Armenian singing art?
One strong aspect is the fact that our upcoming generation is gradually dedicating more time to listen to Armenian folk songs. As negative aspect I can mention that this type of songs are not occupying the necessary space on TV.
What are required in Armenia for someone to become a good singer?
Obviously God-given talent is required in order to become a good singer, plus diligent work. The latter is required in all kinds of professions.

Այս երգի առաջարկը Արսեն Գրիգորյանին եղավ իմ կողմից, միշտ սիրել եմ Արսեն Գրիգորյանի երգերը և ուզել եմ մի երգ ունենամ նրանից և ահա մի օր ծանոթացա նրա հետ և սկսեցինք համագործակցել: Երգը ժողովրդական չէ, բայց ժողովրդական մասնիկներ է պարունակում: Հուսով եմ մեր համագործակցությունը ստացվել է և հանդիսատեսին դուր կգա:
Ի՞նչ է երգարվեսը Ձեզ համար:
Ասեմ, որ ժողովրդական երգն ինձ հոգեհարազատ է: Մանկուց ստեղծագործում եմ այդ ժանրում: Կարծում եմ` հայ հասարակությունը սիրում է մեր ժողովրդական երգերը և ամեն անգամ նոր շունչ հաղորդում դրանց` մատուցելով դրանք նորովի: Մենք՝ այդ ժանրում ստեղծագործողներս, չպետք է թույլ տանք, որ մեր երգերը, մեր ժողովրդական արվեստը նույն տեղում դոփեն, ուստի` ես ճիշտ համարեցի տեսահոլովակիս հիմքում դնել ժողովրդական երաժշտությունը` համեմված էստրադային երանգներով:
Իսկ առահասարակ երգը ինձ համար հոգեվիճակ է, առանց երգի ինձ չեմ պատկերացնում՝ մաքուր հայկական երգը ինձ համար ժողովրդական երգն է, կոմիտասյան երգը: Նշեմ նաև, որ ոճափոխություն չեմ արել, ուղղակի ինձ փորձում եմ նաև այս ոճում:
Ի՞նչ եք կարծում՝ որոնք են հայկական երգարվեստի ուժեղ և թույլ կողմերը:
Հայկական երգարվեստի ուժեղ կողմն այն է, որ մեր եկող սերունդը քիչ քիչ սկսել է ավելի շատ լսել ժողովրդական երգեր, իսկ վատը` ես կուզեի ավելի շատ հեռուստաեթերով հնչեր մեր արմատներից եկած երաժշտությունը` ժողովրդական երգերը:
Ի՞նչ է պետք հայաստանում լավ երգիչ դառնալու համար:
Լավ երգիչ դառնալու համար իհարկե պետք է աստծուց շնորհված ձայն և ամենակարևորը աշխատասիրություն: Բոլոր մասնագիտությունների դեպքում էլ ամենակարևորը աշխատասիրությունն է:
