New Armenian Studies Center in Cairo

Armenian Studies Center in CairoAGBU Cairo donates 30.000 LE (about 5.400 USD) to the new Armenian studies center at Cairo University's Faculty of Arts


On the occasion of the inauguration of the Armenian studies? center at the Faculty of Arts of Cairo University, AGBU Cairo contributed with a sum of 30.000 Egyptian pounds in the expenses of the center.


On Thursday 13th December, AGBU Cairo chairman Dr. Viken Djizmedjian and board member Dr. George Simonian paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Ahmed Abdallah Zayed, the Dean of Cairo University?s Faculty of Arts in order to remit the cheque which comes as an appreciation from AGBU Cairo for the efforts of the Faculty in the establishment and running of this center.


The Armenian Studies Center will be offering courses of Armenian language, literature and history to the students of the faculty, it will also organize conferences and lectures on Armenian culture and heritage, the first of which was the one organized on Thursday with the invitation of Prof. Nicolai Hovhanessian from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, who gave a lecture on Armeno-Arab relations. The lecture was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt H.E. Dr. Rouben Karabedian, who had a great role in the creation of this center, as well as professors and students of the Cairo University in addition to members of the Egyptian Armenian community.
