Archbishop Goriun Babian publishes a study in collaboration with Azad-Hye
Azad-Hye provided Archbishop Goriun Babian (Catholicosate of Cilicia) a series of old and original letters that belonged to Catholicos Megerdich Kefsizyan (10 letters), Catholicos Sahag Khabayan (8 letters) and a detailed descriptive list of manuscripts prepared in 1923 by Catholicos Papken Gulesserian. The manuscripts were transferred from Saint Mary Church in Aintab to Jerusalem after the Genocide.
Archbishop Babian provided a detailed study of the donated material, which was published in Armenian in “Aztag” daily of Beirut, Lebanon in 6 parts.
Archbishop Babian combines theological and academic knowledge with vast administrative and leadership virtues. He has been Primate of the Armenian Church in Isfahan for about 25 years, after which he headed the Prelacy of Kuwait and the Gulf countries. Now he is back in Antelias dedicating his time to academic purposes.
On the occasion of the publication of this study, Archbishop Goriun Babian has thanked Azad-Hye editor Hrach Kalsahakian and asked Armenians all around the world to take care of the remnants of the Armenian heritage wherever found. “It is my request that, if there are individuals who happen to have under their disposal or care objects of historical value such as letters, old books, ecclesiastical objects, embroidary works, material related to prominent clergymen, men of thought and art, and generally material of great importance to the Armenian history and culture, it would be a noble act if they are donated to the “Museum of Cilicia” located in the premises of the Catholicsoate of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon or to the Archives of the Catholicosate”, said Archbishop Babian.
