This annual event actually has become the focus of Community life, especially in relation with the Young Generation. This year too, all the students of the School, took part in the traditional dances and the theatrical performances (solo and group). Almost everybody had a role to play. This way the spirit of participation and contribution is kept alive.
The School has become almost the only place for young Armenians (outside their families) to gain some knowledge of their nation and to practice their mother tongue.
Fortunately the language used by the students of this School is Armenian. The everyday pace of events is so overwhelming that some parents do not realize the importance of the School as a unique place for the cultivation of the Armenian collective spirit.
Acknowledging the value of the Armenian School is a very important step in recognizing national strength. This is why supporting the School is regarded as a very noble act.
General Facts: The Weekly School is operating since the early eighties of the last century (more than 20 years now). Number of students for 2002-2003 academic year is about 50, number of teachers is about 10.
Day of the week: Every Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.
The School enjoys the care of the Council of the Armenians of Abu Dhabi (related to the Armenian Prelacy of Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf Countries – related to the Catholicosate of Cilicia, Beirut, Lebanon)
This year was devoted to the 1000th anniversay of Krikor Naregatsi, the great Armenian poet.
