Returning to its birthplace of Cairo, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) will open its Centennial Celebrations in the Egyptian capital from April 12-17, 2006. Two optional trips between April 18-22, either a cruise to Aswan/Luxor or a stay in Sharm El Sheikh, will be offered to guests following the official festivities.

Organized by AGBU Cairo, the landmark event will incorporate comprehensive sightseeing tours, an day-long educational seminar, an exhibition of archival photographs and books, and a day-trip to Alexandria.

In addition, special events, including mass at St. Gregory Armenian Church and a cultural program with guest musical artists Hasmik Papian and Vardan Mamikonian from Armenia, will mark Easter Sunday.

The highlight of the week will be a ball on Saturday, April 15 to celebrate AGBU's 100th birthday with guest singer, Nune Yessayan from Armenia.

Guests are urged to register before the February 15 deadline. More information, including registration / accommodation forms and the full itinerary, is on www.agbuegypt.org.
