Nelly Karyan interviews French Armenian Avedis Kalanjian who was accused for “plotting for the killing of a political leader”

Mr. Kalanjian, what was the reason behind your arrest?

Let me start with 18 March 2008. That day I went to the Ministry of Defense to get a payment for a book that they have bought from me, but I did not receive any payment. I was upset because I was trying to get the money for a long time. On the way back I went to my friend Martin Baghdasaryan's home, where I met his son. We started a conversation. He told me that some people have been opposing the Prime Minister. I replied, the Prime Minister is newly appointed and there is no reason to be against him. Let them instead oppose the President. He told me that the President is inaccessible, to which I said “isn't he going to pray on Easter?” This is the whole story of why I spent eight months in jail.

You have been arrested since 06 April 2009. Where were you detained? Have you been subject to any violence during that time?

I was detained for two months in the National Security solitary prison and for six months in Nubarashen prison. For me, violence is not only a physical act, but also the rude attitude against me. They were treating me like I was the worst kind of murderer.

What are you planning to do now after you have been released?

I cannot leave this insult without follow-up. I would demand national security authorities in Armenia to compensate me for filing this groundless case against me. Most probably I will leave the country, as I was not treated well here.

Մեր զրուցակիցն է Ավետիս Կալանջյանը, ով մեղադրվում էր ?քաղաքական գործչի սպանություն նախապատրաստելու? մեջ:

– Պարոն Կալանջյան ինչն է հանդիսացել ձեր ձերբակալության պատճառը.

Սկսեմ մարտի 18-ից, այդ օրը գնացի ՊՆ, որպեսզի վերցնեմ գրքի գումարը, որը ինձանից գնել էին, սակայն այդ օրը ես չստացա այն, այսպես նեղված` քանի որ այդ գումարը երկար ժամանակ էր չէի կարողանում ստանալ, գնացի ընկերոջս` Մարտին Բաղդասարյանի տուն, ինձ դիմավորեց նրա որդին: Մենք զրույցի բռնվեցինք, նա սկսեց պատմել, որ ինչ որ մարդիկ վարչապետի դեմ են դուրս եկել, ես էլ ասացի, թե վարչապետը նոր է նշանակված եվ ինչ իմաստ կա նրա դեմ դուրս գալ, թող նախագահի դեմ դուրս գան: Նա ասաց, որ նախագահը անձեռնամխելի է, ես էլ պատասխանեցի ինչ է զատիկին չի գալու աղոթելու: Ահա ամբողջ պատմությունը ինչի համար ես 8 ամիս անցկացրեցի բանտում: 

– Դուք կալանավորված եք եղել 2008 թվականի ապրիլի 6-ից, որտեղ էին ձեզ պահում:

2 ամիս գտնվել եմ ՀՀ Ազգային Անվտանգության մեկուսարանում, 6 ամիս ?Նուբարաշեն? քրեակատարողական հիմնարկում:

– Ազատազրկման ընթացքում որեվե բռնություն կիրառվել է ձեր նկատմամբ.

Բռնությունը ինձ համար դա միայն ֆիզիկական չէ, այլ նաեվ կոպիտ վերաբերմունքը: Իսկ իմ հանդեպ այնպես էին վերաբերվում կարծես ես վերջին կարգի մարդասպան լինեի:

– Իսկ ինչ եք անելու այսօր, երբ արդեն ազատության մեջ եք:

Ես չեմ կարող այս վիրավորանքը այսպես թողնել. ես կստիպեմ Ազգային Անվտանգության մարմիններին, որպեսզի նրանք փոխհատուցեն, քանի որ այս անհիմն գործը իրենք են իմ դեմ հարուցել: Երեվի թե ես կմեկնեմ Հայաստանից, քանի որ ինձ այստեղ լավ չնդունեցին:

Հիշեցնենք, որ Ֆրանսիայի քաղաքացի Ավետիս Կալանջյանի դեմ քրեական գործ էր հարուցվել 2008 թվականի ապրիլի 6-ին, 8-ամիս կալանքից հետո նա արդարացվեց եվ ազատ արձակվեց դատարանի դահլիճից:
