Children's home in EchmiadzinBy Meri Martirosyan
???
On 20 November 2010, under the patronage of the Catholicos of all Armenians Karekin II, the opening ceremony of the Children?s home of St. Echmiadzin took place in St. Gayane monastery.?

The facility was completely renovated with the benevolence of the London-based Kurkchian family, in memory of the late Mr. George Kurkchian and his daughter Marina Kurkchian.

According to information obtained from St. Echmiadzin, the opening of the Children?s home has been part of series of social programs undertaken by the Armenian Apostolic Church to take care of the orphans.

The home is intended to shelter needy families as well as orphaned children and adolescents, who will be able to study in Echmiadzin?s Eurnekian Secondary school and attend the Echmiadzin Armenian youth home.

The Kurkchian family has also undertaken the sponsorship of the home?s future needs and functions.

We truly need the presence of such organizations in our country, we also hope that one day, each child would have a roof above his head and there would be no need to live in the children?s home.
