An interview with Hayk Harutyunyan, Filmmaker, Producer and Director of “AZD Productions”
When was your company founded and what are the activities you carry out?
It was founded in 1996 as an advertising agency. We basically film movies related to Armenia.
Could you please tell us about the movies you have produced so far?
We have already filmed ten documentary movies, which I believe are already known to the Armenian public, as they were broadcasted on the public TV. I can mention ? “Armenia with You”, “My ANI”, “Karabakh”, “The Artist Blue-Ray”, “Garni Geghard”, “Ararat Views” etc.
We've also produced artistic movies, but our main focus is themes related to historical Armenia.
Let me comment on the last two films we made. One of them is dedicated to the 1050th anniversary of the declaration of the city of Ani as the capital city of Armenia, and the other one, “Armenia with You” is the result of four years of work, a film directed and produced by me, scenario by Tehmine Hayrapetyan.
I think this film is so distinctive and exceptional because there isn't a single place or a phenomena or any typicality that is unique to Armenia which has not been included in it. We filmed and integrated all the special places in Armenia from north to south.
We filmed all the mount peaks, all our rituals, our holiday celebrations and all the events that took place in Armenia in the past five years. There?s also a segment about the Armenian kitchen and a big segment about Yerevan. This movie can help improve tourism to Armenia, as well as inside Armenia.
What about financing the films? Do you take care of that yourselves?
Basically we make everything happen with our own personal efforts, except for the “Cilicia” movie, which was sponsored by the VivaCell-MTS's CEO Mr. Ralph Yirikyan. Since Cilicia is part of the old Armenia area, it was financially a difficult task and it required additional work.
Presently we are working on a movie that has unfortunately been halted; it is about Javakhk, it carries the title “The Step son”; we are looking for a sponsor in order to be able to carry on.

Արդեն ունենք 10 վավերագրական ֆիլմ, որոնք կարծում եմ հայ հանրությանը հայտնի են, քանի որ ցուցադրվել են հանրային հեռուստատեսությամբ: Օրինակ` ?Armenia 
With You?, ?My ANI?, ?Karabakh?, ?The Artist Blu-ray?, ?Garni Geghard?, ?Ararat Views?, նաև ունենք գեղարվեստական ֆիլմեր, սակայն հիմնականում կենտրոնանում ենք պատմական Հայաստանի ֆիլմերի թեմաների վրա, և ինչպես վերը նշեցի այդ թեմաներով ունենք արդեն 10 ֆիլմ: Անդրադառնամ վերջին երկու ֆիլմերին: Դրանցից մեկը նվիրված է Անիի մայրաքաղաք հռչակման հազար հիսուն ամյակին: Իսկ մյուսը, որը 4 տարվա աշխատանքի արդյունք է, որի ռեժիսորը և պրոդյուսերը ես եմ, իսկ սցենարի հեղինակը Թեհմինե Հայրապետյանն է, կոչվում է` ?Armenia With You? (Հայաստանը քեզ հետ): Կարծում եմ վերջին 10 տարվա մեջ այսպիսի ֆիլմ չի լինի, ֆիլմը եզակի է նրանով, որ չկա մի վայր, մի երևույթ, կամ ինչ որ Հայաստանին առնչվող առանձնահատկություն, որ տեղ գտած չլինի այս ֆիլմի մեջ. օրինակ ամբողջ Հայաստանը` հյուսիսից հարավ, տեղ են գտել Հայաստանի էքստրիմալ վայրերը, բոլոր լեռնագագաթները, ծեսերը, տոները, վերջին 5 տարվա Հայաստանյան իրադարձությունները, կա նույնիսկ խոհանոց, Երևանի մասին առանձին մի մեծ հատված և այլն: Այս ֆիլմը կարող է նպաստել զբոսաշրջության, ինչպես նաև ներքին տուրիզմի զարգացմանը:
– Ֆինանսկան կողմը դու՞ք եք ապահովում:
Ֆիլմերը հիմնականում մենք իրականացնում ենք մեր միջոցներով, միայն ?Կիլիկիա? ֆիլմն է, որը հովանավորել է ՎիվաՍել-ՄՏՍի՝ Ռալֆ Յիրիկյանը, քանի որ Կիլիկիան գտնվում է Հին Հայաստանի տարածքում ֆինանսական առումով ծանր ֆիլմ էր, ինչպես նաև աշխատատար: Այժմ աշխատում ենք մի ֆիլմի վրա. դա Ջավախքի մասին է, կոչվում է`?Խորթ զավակը?, սակայն կիսատ է մնացել, քանի որ ֆինանսների փնտրտուքի մեջ ենք:
