AZAD-HYE (25 November 2004): For few years now “Orer” Armenian monthly (and sometimes bimonthly) periodical is being published in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The editor is Hagop Asatrian.

The recent joint issue of this pan-European periodical provides information on film festivals held in Yerevan, Moscos and Karlovy Vary (spa city in the Czech Republic).

Another topic is “Saroyan in Czech Republic“. Armenian-American writer William Saroyan used to visit Prague quite often. His books are translated into the Czech language and his presence is felt extensively in this country.

“Orer” publishes also an interview with Father Harutyun Pztikian, who is member of the Congregation of Mkhitarians. Father Pztikian is known as an artist and educator. He has run in the past the Mkhitarian School in Aleppo. His paintings were displayed in many galleries in Europe and the Middle East. Father Pztikian informed the magazine that a cultural center of the Mkhitarian Congregation will soon open in Yerevan.

Articles on Armenia's inner political life are also included in the magazine.

The magazine published also some articles in Czech language, such as translations of the poems of Charles Aznavour.

“Orer” is an Armenian windown on Europe. It provides the Armenians of Europe an opportunity to get acquainted with the political and cultural events of Armenia.
