Khatchadourian is the founder of KOHAR Symphony Orchestra and Choir
Patron of Armenian culture, Harout Khatchadourian of Lebanon, was awarded at the presidential palace with the ?Movses Khorenatsi? medal by President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia on 17 September for his decades of continuous and dedicated cultural contribution in different Armenian Diasporas in safeguarding and promulgating Armenian music, song, culture, Ayp Pen Kim?s (Armenian alphabet).
KOHAR was conceptualized and realized by Harout Khatchadourian, who founded and has continuously supported and funded the entire activities of KOHAR since 1997, in memory of his late father Aram Khatchadourian and as a tribute to his mother Kohar Khatchadourian.
KOHAR is led by the Ayp Pen Kim of the Armenian alphabet and supports the Armenian teacher and it proudly waves the flags of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.

KOHAR of Gyumri (the northern capital of Armenia), is a popular orchestra founded in 1997 by Lebanese Armenian culture patron Harout Khatchadourian, who along with his family members cover the expenses of KOHAR, in memory of their late father Aram and in honor of their mother Kohar.
Consisting of over 120 musicians, solo singers and dancer, KOHAR quickly grew in popularity. Its first major concert tour was in the summer of 2002 in Cyprus and Lebanon. In Beirut, the well devised repertoire served as a distinctive cultural experience, drawing more than four thousand people at BIEL center. The collection of traditional and popular songs drew many into tears of nostalgia, reminiscence and pride.
In the following years, KOHAR appeared on stage in Istanbul, Moscow and major cities in North America.
KOHAR has been famous for its recordings of “All Time Armenian Favorites” DVD asnd CD. The DVD features a bilingual Armenian and English, multi-feature and stunning, visual and symphonic performance with many songs and dances and subtitled lyrics of the songs in Armenian and transliteration.

Հայ մշակոյթի մեկենաս, լիբանանահայ Յարութ Խաչատուրեան 17 սեպտեմբերին Հայաստանի նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսեանի ձեռամբ նախագահական նստավայրին մէջ պարգեւատրուեցաւ ?Մովսէս Խորենացի? շքանշանով` տասնեակ տարիներ շարունակ սփիւռքի զանազան գաղթօճախներու մէջ վասն հայ երգ-երաժշտութեան, մշակոյթին եւ ԱԲԳ-ի պահպանման եւ տարածման սուրբ գործին մէջ տարած իր աշխատանքին համար:
Արուեստներու մեկենաս Յարութ Խաչատուրեանի մտայղացումն է ԳՈՀԱՐ-ը. 1997-էն ի վեր ան կը շարունակէ նիւթապէս եւ բարոյապէս հովանաւորել ԳՈՀԱՐ-ի ամբողջ գործունէութիւնը` ի յիշատակ իր հօր` Արամ Խաչատուրեանի եւ ի յարգանս իր մօր` Գոհար Խաչատուրեանի:
