Immigration and Diaspora are two words that we are used to as Armenians. About 7500 persons leave Armenia every year, the majority of them for employment reasons. Mostly they go to Russia, other CIS countries and USA. These are figures taken from the national statistics center.
There are many reasons cited for immigration. The most common reason is the prevailing social conditions. Researches show that 29% of the population in Armenia lives in poverty, while another 7% lives in extreme poverty. The other reason is the desire to study abroad and to live there for career development purposes, as the majority of the young people in Armenia do not see any future in Armenia. Furthermore there is a category of professionals, such as performers, movies directors, writers, architects, scientists, etc, who prefer to live abroad. All these facts are painful, but this is the reality.
Out of ten millions Armenians worldwide only 3 million lives in Armenia, while the rest is spread in many countries. There is almost no country in the world without Armenian population. This was the reason which led to the creation of the Ministry of Diaspora, which deals with issues related to Diaspora Armenians and forms a bridge between Armenia and Armenians living abroad.
It is a fact that immigration has affected many societies in the world, but for us the phenomenon has dangerous dimensions, because we are a small state, with limited population, therefore the departure of each Armenian is a lose for the country. Many talented and active people are leaving and investing their capabilities in other countries. Nevertheless, we would like to express the hope that one day all Armenians will return back to their homeland and work and be creative within the limits of their country and for their own people.

Արտագաղթ. ինչո՞ւ են հայերը մեկնում?

Արտագաղթ կամ սփյուռք բառերը վաղուց արդեն սովորական են դարձել ցանկացած հայի համար: Հայաստանից տարեկան շուրջ 7500 մարդ է հեռանում, նրանց մեծամասնությունը աշխատավոր էմիգրանտներն են: Մեծ մասը մեկնում են Ռուսաստան,ԱՊՀ երկրներ և ԱՄՆ: Այդպիսին են Ազգային վիճակագրական կենտրոնի տվյալները:
Մարդկանց հեռանալու պատճառները տարբեր են: Ամենահաճախ հանդիպող պատճառաբանությունը սոցիալական վիճակն է: Հետազոտությունները ցույց են տվել, որ Հայաստանում աղքատ է ապրում բնակչության գրեթե 29%-ը,իսկ ծայրահեղ աղքատ` 7%-ը: Մյուս պատճառը արտերկրում սովորելու ու հետո` աշխատելու ցանկությունն է, քանի որ երիտասարդների մեծ մասը իրենց ապագան չեն տեսնում Հայաստանում: Քիչ թիվ չեն կազմում նաև արվեստագետները` երգիչներ, դերասաններ, ռեժիսորներ, գրողներ, ճարտարապետներ և այլք: Այս ամենը, անշուշտ, ցավալի է, սակայն սա է իրականությունը:
Աշխարհում ապրող 10 միլիոն հայից միայն 3 միլիոնն է բնակվում Հայաստանում, մնացածը սփռված են աշխարհի ամենատարբեր երկրներում, ասել է թե` չկա մի երկիր, որտեղ գոնե մեկ հայ չգտնես: Թերևս, այս է ամենամեծ պատճառը, որ վերջին շրջանում ստեղծվեց Սփյուռքի նախարարությունը, որը զբաղվում է սփյուռքի և սփյուռքահայերի հարցերով, իսկ որ ամենակարևորն է` կապող օղակ է հանդիսանում Հայաստանի և Սփյուռքի միջև:
Իհարկե, արտագաղթ կա գրեթե յուրաքանչյուր երկրում, սակայն մեզ համար այն առավել վտանգավոր է, քանի որ մենք փոքր երկիր ենք` քիչ բնակչությամբ,և ամեն մի հայի մեկնումը մեծ կորուստ է երկրի համար: Բազում տաղանդավոր ու գործունյա մարդիկ են հեռանում` իրենց ունակությունները ներդնելով օտար հողի, օտար երկրի շենացման գործում: Ինչևէ, ուզում եմ հույս հայտնել, որ կգա մի օր, երբ բոլոր հայերը կվերադառնան իրենց հայրենի երկիր, կաշխատեն ու կստեղծագործեն իրենց պետության սահմաններում և իրենց ժողովրդի համար?
