That Place: A cozy place in the center of Yerevan

Developing relations with the Armenians of Diaspora is one of the vital issues for Armenia, a country trying to facilitate repatriation with all possible means.

Zak Valladian and his brothers not only returned to Armenia, they also started their own business in the form of a bar. We had the chance to interview Zak and know more about his plans related to Armenia.

I was born, raised and educated in Dubai, UAE, Zak said, but I am living here already in the past two years. Opening a bar was my brother?s idea. He decided to leave Dubai and come to Armenia for that purpose. We, the three brothers, are considered to be the founders of the establishment. It is more than one year now “That Place” is operating.

In Dubai we had mini-bars in our homes, where we used to gather and spend nice time. Based on that experience we decided to transfer that mood to Armenia. We can say that we succeeded in doing so. Why we chose Armenia? Because I like Armenia, especially the free style of life here. Finally, Armenia is our homeland. 

We are meeting new persons in “That Place”. In the beginning, we made entry to the bar free for everyone, but then we decided to make it accessible for members only. However, couples are always welcome. Our visitors are not only Diasporan Armenians. In fact the majority are ordinary inhabitants of the city. 

Sometimes quarrels and disagreements take place but we consider that quite normal. After all people drink alcohol here. For that purpose we have security officer on duty. 

We arrange concerts, discos and other events here and try to present ourselves in a unique style every time. Every Thursday we have live entertainment. Here the clients get sandwiches and cocktails prepared in the style of different countries.

We have many plans related to Armenia, but we cannot announce about them right now, Zak states. Time will prove everything. We can inform you that there would be very interesting concert in the summer, unprecedented in its style. We are members also of an organization whose main aim is to ask Diasporan Armenians to return to the homeland. 

This much now about “That Place”, but as Zak said there would be always new things to talk about.

Երևանի կենտրոնում գողտրիկ մի վայր

Այսօր սփուռքահայության խնդիրը Հայաստանի համար կարևորագույններից է: Հայաստանը ամեն կերպ օժանդակումը որպեսզի սփուռքահայերը վերադառնան իրենց հայրենիք:

Եվ ահա Զաք Վալլադյանը և  իր եղբայրները ոչ միայն վերադարձել են Հայաստան, այլև այստեղ հիմնել են իրենց բարը (bar), և ինչպես նա է նշում մեզ  հետ ունեցած զրույցում, իրենք նոր նպատակներ ու մտահղացումներ ունեն  Հայաստանի հետ կապված, ավելի մանրամասն փորձենք պարզել նրանից`

Ես ծնվել մեծացել, ուսում եմ ստացել Դուբայում, սակայն արդեն երկու տարի է  այստեղ եմ բնակվում: Հայաստանում բար հիմնելը եղբորս մտահղացումն էր: Եղբայրս որոշեց Հայաստան գալ Դուբայից այդ նպատակի համար: Բարի հիմնադիրը համարվում ենք մենք երեք եղբայրներով: Արդեն մեկ տարուց ավելի է ինչ գործում է ?That Place?ը:

Դուբայում յուրաքանչուրիս տան մեջ նմանատիպ բարեր կան, մենք միշտ հավաքվում ենք և կազմակերպում հետաքրքիր երեկույթներ և ահա որոշեցինք  այս տրամադրությունը փոխանցել նաև Հայաստան, և կարելի ասել մեզ  հաջողվեց: Իսկ թէ ինչու հենց Հայաստանում, կասեմ քանի որ Հայաստանը ինձ  շատ է դուր գալիս, ինձ դուր է գալիս հատկապես Հայաստանի ազատ կյանքը, այդ իսկ պատճառվ որոշեցինք հիմնել հենց այստեղ, և ի վերջո նաև Հայաստանը մեր հայրենիքն է:

?That Place?ում մենք նոր մարդկանց հետ ենք ծանոթանում, ընկերանում: Այս բարի մուտքը սկզբնական շրջանում ազատ է եղել, սակայն հետո մենք որոշեցինք որ լինի միայն անդամների համար, սակայն եթե գալիս են զույգերով  էլի կարող են հայտնվել այստեղ: Չի կարելի ասել որ սրանով մենք առանձնանում ենք, քանի որ տեղի անդամներից շատերը հենց տեղի հայերն են այլ  ոչ թէ սփուռքահայեր:

Կռիվներ ընդհարուներ լինում են և մենք դա շատ բնական ենք համարում, քանի որ գիտակցում ենք որ գործ ունենք ալկոհոլի հետ, և վերը նշված   վիճակները չեն բացառվում, դրա համար մենք ունենք անվտանգության  աշխատակիցներ:

Այստեղ տեղի են ունենում երեկույթներ, դիսկոներ, և ձգտում ենք ամեն օր  յուրովի ներկայանալ: Ամեն հինգշաբթի լինում է կենդանի երաժշտություն:

Այստեղ հաճախորդները կարող են ճաշակել սենդվիչներ  և հիմականում կոկտեյլներ, պատրաստված տարբեր երկրների ոճով:

Հայաստանի հետ կապված շատ պլաններ ունենք, հիմա հայտարարել չենք  պատրաստվում, ժամանակը  ցույց կտա: Կարող ենք միայն ասել որ ամռանը  շատ հետաքրքիր համերգ է լինելու, անկրկնելի իր ոճի մեջ, որի նմանը դեռ չի  եղել: Մենք մասնակցում ենք նաև մի կազմակերպության որը հիմնական  նպատակ ունի սփուռքահայությանը կոչ անել հայրենիք վերադառնալու:
