Many Armenians migrated to different countries during and after the genocide. As a result, Armenians are widespread all over the world now but the memories they have of their homeland have remained an inseparable part of their identities. Sargis is still a young, talented man; his family tree goes back to the city of Dertyol in Cilicia. He still remembers the stories his grandpa used to tell him and the advices he used to give, and he tries to be his praiseworthy grandson
During the genocide years, the Lepejians migrated to Syria and then returned to Iskenderun (ancient city of Alexandretta). They soon find out that the city has also been handed over to the Turks, so they moved and settled in the capital of Jordan, Amman.
Sargis? grandpa has had a very difficult childhood. He lost his mother when he was around seven; he started to work when he was fourteen and specialized in photography. Later, he and a friend opened their own studio. He has always been hard working and has earned every penny with his own work.
He was one of the first to introduce colored photography to Amman. He has always encouraged and appreciated education and personally helped many students further their studies abroad.
Sargis? grandpa?s greatest wish was to spend his last days in his homeland, that?s why the entire family moved to Armenia in 2008. Mr. Lepejian had a house built in Geghadir village near mount Ararat and asked to be buried right in front of the mountain. And it was so. He died in 2003.
Sargis Lepejian junior tells that his grandpa was incredibly kind, smart and humble. In the last years of his life he worked as a lecturer of archaeology at the university in Jordan. According to Sarkis junior, grandpa?s biggest dream was to see that the Armenian Genocide has been recognized and the crime against Armenians in 1915 has been punished. He has raised his grandson -whom he loved so much- with the same patriotic spirit.
This photo of Sargis Lepejian senior and junior, was taken in 1994 in the very studio that Mr. Lepejian had founded. Sargis junior ?now 20- is walking on the same path as his grandpa and is involved in photography. He has a series of photos that would grab your attention with their unique color and style (see samples). He tries to spend every day in a way that keeps the memory of his grandpa alive and makes him the praiseworthy grandson of an unforgettable and outstanding man.

Շատ հայեր եղեռնի տարիներին եւ դրանից հետո գաղթել են տարբեր երկրներ: Հայերը սփռվել են աշխարհով մեկ, սակայն հայրենիքի հետ կապված հուշերը միշտ վառ են մնացել: Սարգիսը տակավին երիտասարդ ու շնորհալի տղա է: Արմատներով Կիլիկիայի Դորթիոլ քաղաքից է: Նա մինչ այսօր հիշում է պապի պատմած պատմությունները, խորհուրդները եւ փորձում նրա արժանի թոռը լինել:
Լեպեջյանները ցեղասպանության տարիներին գաղթում են Սիրիա, սակայն հետո վերադառնում Իսկենդերում քաղաք: Շուտով պարզում են, որ այդ քաղաքն էլ է հանձնվել թուրքերին, տեղափոխվում են Հորդանանի մայրաքաղաք Ամման:
Սարգիսի պապը` Սարգիս Լեպեջյանը, դժվար մանկություն է ունեցել. 6-7 տարեկան է եղել, երբ մայրը մահացել է, 14 տարեկանից սկսել է աշխատել, մասնագիտացել է լուսանկարչության մեջ: Այնուհետ ընկերոջ հետ միասին բացել է լուսանկարչատուն: Շատ աշխատասեր է եղել եւ իր ողջ ունեցվածքին հասել է արդար քրտինքով: Հետագայում նա առաջիններից էր լինելու, ով Ամման էր բերելու գունավոր լուսանկարչությունը: Դա էր պատճառը, որ միշտ բարձր է գնահատել կրթությունն ու ուսման ձգտող ուսանողների ջանքերը, եւ բազմաթիվ երիտասարդների սեփական միջոցներով ուղարկել է տարբեր տեղեր` ուսանելու:
Սարգսի պապի մեծագույն ցանկությունն է եղել կյանքի վերջին օրերն անցկացնել հայրենիքում, եւ այդ է պատճառը, որ նրանց ողջ ընտանիքը 2008 թվականին տեղափոխվում է Հայաստան: Պարոն Լեպեջյանն Արարատի մոտ Գեղադիր գյուղում տուն է կառուցում եւ խնդրում, որ մահից հետո իրեն թաղեն հենց լեռան դիմաց: Իր կառուցած տան մոտակա գերեզմանատանն էլ իր վերջին հանգրվանն է գտնում մեծ հայրենասերը` համաձայն իր ցանկության: Նա մահանում է 2003 թվականին:
Սարգիս Լեպեջյան կրտսերը պատմում է, որ իր պապն անսահման բարի էր, խելացի, համեստ, իր բարության մեջ նույնիսկ միամտություն կար: Կյանքի վերջին տարիներին աշխատել է որպես դասախոս. համալսարանում հնէաբանություն է դասավանդել Հորդանանում : Սարգսի խոսքով`պապիկի ամենամեծ երազանքներից մեկն այն է եղել, որ ի վերջո հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչվի եւ հայերի հանդեպ 1915 թվին կատարված ոճիրը պատժվի: Նա հայրենասիրական ոգով է դաստիարակել նաեւ թոռանը, որի հանդեպ յուրահատուկ սեր է տածել:
Այս նկարը, որում պատկերված են Սարգիս Լեպեջյան ավագն ու կրտսերը` արվել է 1994 թվականին հենց այն լուսանկարչատանը, որը հիմնել էր պարոն Լեպեջյանը Ամմանում: 20-ամյա Սարգիսն այժմ շարունակում է պապի ճանապարհը` զբաղվում է լուսանկարչությամբ, ունի մի շարք հեղինակային նկարներ, որոնք աչքի են ընկնում գույների ու ոճերի հետաքրքիր համադրությամբ: Իր կյանքի ամեն մի օրը փորձում է այնպես անցկացնել, որ պապի արժանի թոռը լինի եւ նրա անունն ու հիշատակը վառ պահի:
