The Feast of the Translators (Tarkmanchats Don) was celebrated at the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy (ACPA) in Kolkata (Calcutta) on 13th October 2007. A cultural programme was prepared with the participation of the Students.

 

The programme started with Lord?s Prayer. Miss Iveta Grigorian, a  teacher of Armenian language and literature and organiser of the evening welcomed the audience and invited the keynote speaker, Deacon Haroutyun Hambardzumian, Administrator of the ACPA to deliver his speech.

 

Deacon Haroutyun outlined the history of the invention of the Armenian Alphabet, as well as the translation of the Bible into Armenian by Mesrop Mashtots, Sahak Partev and their students.

 

The students sung hymns and songs, recited poems and staged a play dedicated to the ?translators?.

 

In his closing speech, the Very Rev. Father Oshagan Gulgulian, Manager of the ACPA, underlined the important role the Armenian Alphabet has played in the history of our nation. He appealed to the students never to forget their mother tongue, ?because?, he emphasised, ?due to the divine alphabet, we have not only created our literature, but also preserved our faith, culture and national character.

 

Father Oshagan closed the evening with a prayer (Bahbanitch)

Թարգմանչաց տոնը Կալկաթայի Հայոց Մարդասիրական Ճեմարանում


 


Հոկտեմբերի տասներեքին Կալկաթայի Հայոց Մարդասիրական Ճեմարանում մեծ հանդիսավորությամբ նշվեց Թարգմանչաց տոնը: Այս առիթով ճեմարանի սաների կողմից պատրաստվել էր հանդես–երեկույթ` նվիրված Թարգմանչաց տոնին:


 


Հանդիսությունը սկսվեց տերունական աղոթքով, այնուհետեւ բացման խոսքով ներկաներին ողջունեց հանդեսի կազմակերպչուհի` հայոց լեզվի եւ գրականության ուսուցչուհի` օր Իվետա Գրիգորյանը: Օրվա խորհրդի եւ տոնի մասին բանախոսությամբ հանդես եկավ Մարդասիրական Ճեմարանի վարչական տնօրեն` Բարեշնորհ Հարություն սրկ. Համբարձումյանը:


 


Գեղարվեստական երեկույթը հագեցած էր շարականների ու երգերի կատարմամբ, արտասանություններով, ինչպես նաեւ թատերական բեմադրությամբ:


 


Հանդիսության ավարտին փակման եւ օրհնության խոսքով ներկաներին դիմեց Հնդկահայոց հոգեւոր հովիվ եւ Հայոց Մարդասիրական Ճեմարանի կառավարիչ` հոգեշնորհ Տ. Օշական վրդ. Գյուլգյուլյանը, իր խոսքում անդրադառնալով Աստվածապարգեւ հայոց նշանագրերի արժեքին ու նշանակությանը, ինչպես նաեւ հորդորեց սաներին երբեք չմոռանալ իրենց մայրենի լեզուն, քանի որ դրանց շնորհիվ է, որ այսօր պահպանել ենք մեր հավատքը եւ մշակույթը, ունենք գիր ու գրականություն եւ ազգային նկարագիր:


 


Հանդիսությունը փակվեց պահպանիչ աղոթքով:
