Preservation of the Armenian identity as a strategic issue

?Best Armenian School? and ?Best Armenian Media Outlet? contests.
?
As it is already known, the Republic of Armenia (RA) Ministry of Diaspora and the World Armenian Congress will be holding an annual pan-Armenian award ceremony for ?Notable contribution to preservation of the Armenian identity?. In 2010, it is envisaged to hold the ?Best Armenian School? and ?Best Armenian Media Outlet? contests.
?
The pan-Armenian contest launched in January 2010 with the purpose of encouraging the preservation and development of Armenian identity in Diaspora Armenian communities and appreciating the contributions of individuals and organizations to this strategic issue.
?
– 61 schools have applied for the ?Best Armenian School? category of which 30 are one-day schools and 31 are daily schools, seminaries and lyceums.
?
– 50 media outlets have applied for the ?Best Armenian Media? category of which 30 are print media, 5 are television companies, 7 are radio stations and 8 are online media outlets.
?
Prizes for the ?Best Armenian School? category will be for one-day and daily schools.
?
The prizes in the ?Best Armenian Media Outlet? category are set for each type of media outlet. Other organizations have set encouraging prizes for applicants for their contribution to preservation of the Armenian identity.
?
The RA Ministry of Diaspora and the World Armenian Congress have set up professional contest committees for each category. All committees evaluate the applications and select the winners of the contest.
?
Each committee has already convened over 20 sessions. The committees have developed the package of necessary documents, the rating standards and have evaluated and selected the applications.
?
At the moment, the committees are studying and reviewing the applications and additional information from participants, after which they will make the final selections and present the decisions to the organizing committee.
?
The Contest Organizing Committee has been receiving responses from Diaspora Armenians since the first day the contest was declared. Community structures, organizations and many individuals welcomed the contest and placed importance on its role and significance in the preservation of Armenian identity in the Diaspora.
?
The organizing committee would like to thank all participants for their attention to the Contest.
?
Let us remind that the results of the contest will be summed up in October 2010. The winners of the ?Best Armenian Media Outlet? contest will receive their awards during the Armenian Journalists Conference in the NKR, while the winners of the ?Best Armenian School? contest will receive their awards by the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the World Armenian Congress during the solemn closing ceremony of the award ceremony.
