Many of us love animals, but not all of us are ready to take care of any given animal all year round. One of the few people, who would do it in a heartbeat, is Karen Martirosyan, who established exotic animals? zoo (Exotarium) in 2005. Here, you can find animals from Karen's personal collection of 27 years.
In the exhibit room, there are around 16 kinds of birds and over 100 kinds of reptiles, including snakes, lizards and turtles. People from all walks of life visit the center and always find something that interests them, no matter what age they are.
Director Karen Martirosyan says: “We have 120 kinds of animals including birds, reptiles and mammals. In time, the animals increase in number and taking care of them becomes a daunting and a responsible task; for example we need rabbits and rats to feed the reptiles.”
There are special courses for those who like to learn how to take care of and feed such animals. This zoo is a unique of its kind in the CIS region.
The entrance ticket prices are affordable (free of charge for under the age of two, 600 drams under 12, and 1000 drams for teenagers and adults). “No matter who visits the zoo, locals or tourists, they have a great time and always leave contentedly. The children have the opportunity to know more about the animals and take photos with them. There are animals that cannot get close to, because they are poisonous.”
If you visit the centre, you can leave your worries behind and spend your day in a great mood, with nice music, nice people, surrounded by wonderfully bizarre creatures from around the world.

Կենդանիների հանդեպ սեր ունեն շատերը,սակայն ոչ բոլորն են պատրաստ վերցնել ու խնամել որևէ կենդանու: Նման բացառիկ մարդկանցից է Կարեն Մարտիրոսյանը, ով 2005 թվականին հիմնադրել է ?Էկզոտարիում? էկզոտիկ կենդանիների կենտրոնը: Այստեղ ներկայացված են Կարենի սեփական, 27 տարվա հավաքածուի կենդանիները: Ցուցասրահում կան շուրջ 16 տեսակի թռչուններ, 100-ից ավելի տեսակի սողուններ, որոնց մեջ մտնում են օձեր, մողեսներ, կրիաներ: Արդեն 6 տարի է ինչ կենտրոնը գործում է, այցելում են ամենատարբեր մարդիկ, սկսած պաշտոնյաներից մինչև սովորական քաղաքացիներ, երեխաներ: Մոտեցումը բոլորի հանդեպ նույնն է` ջերմ ու բարեհամբույր:
Ինչպես տնօրեն Կարեն Մարտիրոսյանն է նշում. ?Շուրջ 120 տեսակ կենդանիների մեջ ընդգրկված են սողուններ, թռչուններ, կաթնասուններ: Ժամանակի ընթացքում ձեռք են բերվում նաև նոր կենդանիներ, որոնցից յուրաքանչյուրին խնամելը բավականին բարդ և պատասխանատու աշխատանք է: Օրինակ սողունները կերակրվում են միջատներով, ծովախոզուկներով, ճագարներով, առնետներով:Անցկացվում են նաև փոքրիկ դասընթացներ, որոնց ընթացքում ցանկացողները սովորում են, թե ինչպես պետք է խնամել կենդանիներին, ինչ սնունդ տալ և այլն: Կենտրոնն իր տեսակի մեջ միակն է ողջ ԱՊՀ-ի տարածքում?:
?Էկզոտարիում?-ի մուտքի արժեքը բավականին մատչելի է` մինչև 2 տարեկան անվճար, մինչև 12 տարեկան` 600 դրամ,իսկ մեծերի համար` 1000 դրամ: Թե տեղի բնակիչները և թե զբոսաշրջիկները սիրով այցելում են և միշտ գոհունակությամբ են հեռանում: Երեխաները մոտիկից հնարավորություն են ունենում շփվելու կենդանիների հետ, նրանց հետ նկարվելու: Ի հարկե, անվտանգությունն ապահովված է, սակայն կան կենդանիներ, որոնց հետ շփումն արգելվում է, քանի որ դրանք թունավոր են:
Այցելելով ?Էկզոտարիում?,կարելի է կտրվել առօրյայից և հաճելի ու տրամադրող երաժշտության ներքո հաղորդակից դառնալ կենդանիների խորհրդավոր ու զարմանահրաշ աշխարհին:
the Exotarium is a terrible place. The cages are minuscule and very bare, many animals are clearly gone mad or soon will be. The music is just a torment. I complained with the staff and they said there's no money to make things better. Ah, but there is money to get lots and lots of exotic species, probably on the black market, right? disgusting and depressing.
